Sunday morning Peak Walk

 

It has become my favorite thing to take a visitor friend up the Peak to near the governor's mansion, then have breakfast at the Peak Lookout restaurant. The restaurant's terrace seats have the most beautiful lights and a hearty breakfast. What an ideal way of spending Sunday morning.

My friend Shruti and her sister Chaitra visited me over the weekend. We did everything that Shruti and I used to do during our Jakarta days. Eat well, shop, and get nails & massage. Absolutely lovely.

Hong Kong Dragon Dance

Happy moon festival! Here are some shots from HK's Dragon Dance which has been held in Tai Hang (between CWB and TinHau MTR stations) since the 1800s. Apparently this dragon miraculously stopped a plague. Hurray to this 67m dragon. Check out here for more details!

Aquamarine ring picked up in Bangkok

Did you know that Bangkok is famous for gem shopping? Apparently Thailand is a well known place for stone cutting, mainly rubies and sapphires. I got this aquamarine ring that is not clear but super big and funky. The shop I visited run by a New Yorker and another Swiss lady and many others, really clarifies the type of stone and why that price. They will give you lots of time to think about your purchase and will even adjust the size of the jewelery before you actually buy it. Try it when you have time!

While Hua Hin, a few hours off of Bangkok is not a resorty place, this hotel certainly pampered us well. When in Hua Hin, just stay here and don't go out ;)
