Nice coffee shop in Strasbourg

There are so many nice cafes and cake places everywhere in this town. This one was in front of our hotel and good for picking up coffee. Cute slogan.

Everyone says it is pretty and has a mideval feel, and indeed it is such a lovely city! The buildings look so Swiss cottage and maintained so perfectly. The food is great as it is France. And the cathedral (apparently took some 6 generations to complete) is a good mix of those in Barcelona, Cologne and Florence (but I never knew of this humble cathedral). We visited a Swedish couple friend last weekend, who literally has the best life quality ever in Strasbourg (location, quality of food, joint maternity/paternity leave, friendliest baby, super nice apartment, the list goes on).

It is also such a luxury to be in a foreign country in a 2-hour car ride. I look forward to coming back and shopping next time (shops were closed on Sunday).

I thought this summer became winter too soon, but this week has seen the best of Frankfurt's leaves. Not bad at all!

Thank you again to you all for joining and those who sent special wishes, to make this day so precious for our little family.  We couldn't say enough how much your being there has meant to us. This party was made possible thanks to my friend Junko and my parents, as well as all the friends & families who joined and helped to organize. A few days before the party, Magnus and I were still painting the wedding board right before leaving Frankfurt for Japan, and Magnus prepared the music until the last moment. Gifts for the guests were prepared by Magnus's brother Martin who cut down junipor trees to make Swedish butter knives for the guests. My father also packed the best UHA candies for everyone. Speeches were made by our closest friends Tomoko, Jesper, and Elvi. I am also sharing below from Magnus's Stockholm University colleagues. Friends and families are the best, and seeing everyone on this special day was priceless!

Meiji Shrine ceremony

There were a number of different rituals within the ceremony, including to exchange our rings. This somehow felt a more modern practice or non Japanese.



Towards the end, the miko showered us and the guests with their bells, which was very nice.



The best part was walking out of the ceremony in complete silence. Our ceremony was the at the end of the day when the shrine is already closed to visitors. It was a very sober feeling to walk on our own in such a grand place.
