Random Danish building

There was a beautiful set of black and white buildings next to the castle hotel we stayed in Denmark. As the area was marked private, I naturally went in and took photos.  I really wonder what this place is used for today.

We stopped by a Danish castle turned into hotel on the way to Sweden. The building was full of light and had an especially beautiful dining hall. The garden behind was exquisite with a small pond in the middle. 



There were also a number of themed houses spread out around the garden, I assume in the manner of Marie Antoinette's farm house at the Versaille. The end of the garden overlooked the ocean. Why not!

Yoko Ono at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

 

While John Lennon said Yoko Ono is the most famous unknown artist of the world, I am happy to have gotten to know a little more about her work and the time she's been living through. Her work is not just art work but everything else including the peace activities and of course being the wife of John Lennon. Some may say her work is too conceptual but others may say that was how the era was.

 

I personally liked the simplicity and consistency of her most recent work, which was called the Moving Mountains. It was a "get involved" art and three passerby kids were playing inside the black potato sack on what looked like a stage, with some MOMA like music in the back. It did look like "it" and I assume that was the point.

 

I also bought "air" from the candy machine, in the manner of the 23(?) people buying "morning" at Yoko's NYC apartment in her earlier work. I felt a bit "art" buying and keeping the air in the plastic capsule.

Bubble chandelier

I saw this chandlier at the Fredriksborg Castle in the outskirts of Copenhagen. This castle is the largest Renaissance castle in Scandinavia, and surprisingly built by the same guy (King Christian IV) as the one who built the yellow houses I posted before. Christian IV ruled Denmark for an astonishing 59 years.

Lovely Copenhagen

Everyone is so happy and chill in Copenhagen. The air is breezy and the atmosphere is super light, with both locals and visitors sitting by the water and enjoying themselves.

 

Andersen's little mermaid beheaded, de-armed, knocked off, etc...
