The new Whitney Museum

The new Whitney Museum opened in the Meatpacking disrict. It was a nice way to end my work travel to NYC!

I always wonder if such paintings as below are meant to show depression or something else.

Lovely view of the Meatpacking district. During my stay, NYC was 25 degrees.

Lovely Bryant Park in the morning

I just had breakfast with my grad school friend Sheila at Andaz Hotel on 46th and 5th Ave. It was a lovely place with a very nice ambience. On the way back, I stopped by my favorite park.

Natto stockings!

I couldn't resist posting this. My dear friend Hiroko saw this exhibit at the New York MOMA and somehow thought of me! What an honor. It's hilarious that MOMA is showing such a jimi (meaning low key and unspectacular in Japanese, w/o being so rude) art work. It reminds of the lovely Ernesto Neto but 1000000x jimi... simply natto.

The explanation: the artist took woman's stockings and pinned it against the wall so it's like far apart from each other and it looks like a pinned bug or something.

Moroccan dinner in the Nolita District

My friend Hiroko and I were very lucky to find a perfect little table by the window as we entered Cafe Gitane. This is a small Moroccan restaurant located in the Nolita District in NY. Apparently, you are usually expected to wait for an hour for dinner, so we were very lucky.

We ordered cous cous, some eggplant dish, carrot salad, and an avocado toast that I hear everyone raving about... All very nice dishes that went perfecty with the fruity red wine that we had, to catch up on the last few years of our life. It was a lovely start of my NY trip!
