The second floor was literally the warmest (it was such a cold day when I visited), not just from heating perspective but also being so colorful, green, and aromatic featuring plants and flowers, including Neto's interactive umbrella exhibit.

On the ground floor was the main exhibit featuring music and sound, of which I particularly liked the below.

   

 This was a very old piece, but did not look like it at all. It is nice to see the longevity in something that I can imagine could easily become conveniently outdated.

It was such a cold weekend when we visited Metz and it was the same coldness inside Pompidou but Neto's giant exhibit immediately gives you a nice tingly warmth in the entry hall.

ICH bin Kurtan

Now that we are drawing with Kurt all the time, we are starting to accumulate a good collection of him being the model.

      

This last one is by my mom and she also snuck herself in the drawing next to him.

The other day, I discovered Magnus scratching his drawing of Kurt (good, not the other way around), because he was not happy with the outcome. This ICH work reminded me of that moment - I know, different interpretation.

I had some time with Kurt sleeping in the buggie in the afternoon, so dropped by the Schirn Museum in Frankfurt. I always like the way they display things comprehensively, even if it was quite an ambiguous topic such as this one called ICH. The theme was that we take so many self images today, that the face doesn't really matter anymore. This doesn't resonate with me, as in the last 5 years and especially after Kurt, I sadly appear almost never in my photos (except for the wedding photos!). In anycase, I thought the display of pickles (I assume the numerous selfies assuming the shape of pickles) looked fun to have at home.

The new Whitney Museum

 

The new Whitney Museum opened in the Meatpacking disrict. It was a nice way to end my work travel to NYC! 

I always wonder if such paintings as below are meant to show depression or something else.

Gerlesborgsskolan in Bohuslan

We visited an art school called Garlesborgsskolan near our summer house in west coast Sweden. Our purpose was to have a nice lunch, but one can also take part in the 1-week all inclusive art camp for adults. It would be a nice way to spend a summer, in a beautiful part of the country, eating healthily (lots of fish and salad here, as is on the coast), overlooking the water, and just painting...

A series of tree stumps

These tree stumps looked so alive and invasive.

These pictures are not to be confused with deforestation, as this is a world heritage site of rock carvings in Sweden, hence the trees would be well protected.

This was hung by the side of this bridge road where there was construction. I wasn't sure if they were trying to show green, in the midst of the long construction work.  But I somehow thought it was very Swedish of them.. the color and the assumed purpose.

Jill Greenburg

Nowadays, many must have seen the crying baby series by Jill Greenburg. This is on exhibit at Fotografinska until February 9, 2014, as well as all over the city of Stockholm (as advertisement).

 

I thought this was an experiment to see how babies react when taken away their toys, and that was its sole purpose. But I learned that it is a political criticism to the US war situation in 2006. I still think the above is the best shot, which can rouse many thoughts in an adult's mind.
