My New Dress and Jeweleries

I made a new dress and a few jeweleries, inspired by the wallets and purses I acquired in Cambodia. The dress is a copy of a Forever 21 dress that was a knock off of a 3.1 Phillip Lim dress. I can't wait to wear it during my summer break!

The one on the left is from a pearl shop in Shanghai. It really shows the difference in quality of the pearls - the one on the right is of course from Indonesia (it's such a rainbow) to which I added a white ribbon.

The pearly lacey one on the right was made by my friend Elvi.

Home-made French bread

Europeans know how to bake bread! This is an extremely nice practice - that seems to be such a remote lifestyle from mine in Jakarta. These are pictures from a beatiful summer house in Sweden.

Cambodian and Indian galore

I brought back so many things from Cambodia and India. I will show just a few of the goodies.

I bought several paintings in India too (I hope they weren't child labor products, as they were so cheap!) and put them in my coffee table.

I especially adored the cosmetics I picked up. The one from Cambodia is called Bodia Nature. These have super nice smell of lemon grass, which was the smell all over the Grand Raffles Hotel where we stayed.

The one from India also has exquisite smell but also has an extremely nice effect. It was a little pricey (equivalent to duty free shop cosmetics) but I was happy to have trusted the shop person who recommended me the face product like crazy. You're supposed to massage this on your face every other night for 20 minutes. I hope it will continue to work...

On the street in India

I wanted to use the title that the Sartorialist always uses... only this is literally just a street between Taj Mahal and Delhi.

It shows pollution and dust at its best, as it is only an hour after the Taj Mahal picture was taken as we were approaching Delhi. I thought it looked quite artistic.

Taj Mahal

People say Taj Mahal is either a little too small or absolutely beautiful. For me it was monumentally hot. While walking towards the main palace, I almost stopped breathing at all - from the heat. My heartbeat and breathing became completely irregular. It was probably the first time I ever walked in 45 degrees of heat.

I am actually only realizing now how beautiful it was. While I was walking there, I was just wondering how Indians stay so calm in this much heat, and how do women manage to dress up so beautifully in such a torturous environment?

While my brain was completely fried, I'm so glad that at least my camera was working properly. The gradation of the white and the near-white is perfection...

Delhi

It's for real. Kids really do play in the ruins from the middle ages in India, and they are so picturusque! In fact, Indian people in general are very extremely beautiful against the background of the somewhat chaotic and desolate city scape... I wonder why that is.

Pulau Seribu

I went diving to one of the Thousand Islands (Pulau Seribu) near Jakarta. It's an hour or so boat ride from Ancol, a dirty port in the northern Jakarta. It's unimaginable how these islands are world's apart from the city of Jakarta. It is like the Galapagos Islands, left back in time and in modesty...
