Taking off from HK!

This morning, I took my last walk on Peel Street, which ended up being my home street for most of my time in HK both in SOHO and Mid-levels, in the last three years. I always liked how you can see many hard working HK'ies when it's very early in the morning in the neighborhood.

By the way, I am moving to Frankfurt. As it took a while to confirm this next assignment, once it came through I literally arranged all work stuff, packed, sold all my furniture, and completely moved out of HK in the last 3 days since I returned from Japan late Monday.

For now, I really look forward to sleeping and skiing in Sweden where I will spend Christmas and new year before works starts in early January. Ciao HK for now ;)

Reina Maruyama's HK Perfume Event #2

I hosted ANIER's second perfume event in Hong Kong. Thanks to all of you who came!

We smelt over 40 types of raw ingredients and perfume. I surprisingly remembered from last time the smell of ambergris (whale vomit) and civet (cat gland), which on its own smell horrid but are the magic ingredients that respectively make up the famous Chanel No. 5 and Jean Patou's Joy.

On its own I really liked the smell of Neroli and Petigrain, which are the flower and stem of an orange tree. For my own perfume creation, I put a lot of Neroli too. I also loved the recreation of lily of the valley in the perfume Diorissimo, which I must go buy today.

By the way, if you are in Tokyo this month, do visit the event at Marunouchi Shinmaru Building on November 20 & 22 (reservation can be made here)! Also, check out the fragrance candles here that you can get at a special price for Christmas.

See you next time here or in Europe/Tokyo.. or maybe Singapore/Jakarta!?

Sunday morning Peak Walk

It has become my favorite thing to take a visitor friend up the Peak to near the governor's mansion, then have breakfast at the Peak Lookout restaurant. The restaurant's terrace seats have the most beautiful lights and a hearty breakfast. What an ideal way of spending Sunday morning.

Hong Kong Dragon Dance

Happy moon festival! Here are some shots from HK's Dragon Dance which has been held in Tai Hang (between CWB and TinHau MTR stations) since the 1800s. Apparently this dragon miraculously stopped a plague. Hurray to this 67m dragon. Check out here for more details!

Lunch time shopping #4: Light brown Kate Spade

On Friday, I went downstairs to run a quick errand, but look what I got instead. This is the (nice) fate of working right above the Pacific Place mall in HK.

Strolling around Tai O Fishing Village on Lantau Island

This was another really nice discovery in Hong Kong. Tai O is a fishing village, which really seems to live on... well, fishery and other small businesses. It's a new side of Hong Kong that I discovered this weekend!

To get here, take the Orange Line Metro all the way to the end of Lantau Island and get off at the last stop Tung Chung station. From there take bus #11 to Tai O. Both rides are about 30 minutes each. Enjoy!
