A super pleasant running course in Kungshamn Sweden

I think this is one of the nicest running courses (which I walked today to take photos) that is worthy of inviting Haruki Murakami, don't you think? Apparently, this is a regular running place for the Swedes, so it's not so crowded. It's near a soccer ground in Kungshamn in Sweden, which is the next town to the rather well known Smögen (is this enough direction to get you there?).

Beautiful days continuing in Sweden...

I am going strong, fishing and swimming in this beautiful place... so far catching 3 mackerels and 1 cod, and swimming in crisp water.

Gerlesborgsskolan in Bohuslan

We visited an art school called Garlesborgsskolan near our summer house in west coast Sweden. Our purpose was to have a nice lunch, but one can also take part in the 1-week all inclusive art camp for adults. It would be a nice way to spend a summer, in a beautiful part of the country, eating healthily (lots of fish and salad here, as is on the coast), overlooking the water, and just painting...

Swedish delights

This is just one of the many desserts that I've had the privilege of eating after dinner here. I assume the trick is to take any sweet fruits, whether peaches or berries, and bake them with honey/sugar, vanilla essence, and nuts to your liking. Then add ice cream, and there you have a perfect Swedish summer dessert!

Installation of mozarella cheese

A series of tree stumps

These tree stumps looked so alive and invasive.

These pictures are not to be confused with deforestation, as this is a world heritage site of rock carvings in Sweden, hence the trees would be well protected.

Hazelnut bread

When on holiday (in Sweden), bake! This bread was quite easy to make, with lots of hazelnuts, pumpkin seeds, and dry fig. See below the recipe.

Ingredients: 25g of yeast (or half of this and 2 table spoons of sour dough), 1 tea spoon of salt, 1 table spoon of honey, 5dl water, 1dl onaka (yogurt or milk), 2 table spoon of olive oil, 2 dl (100g) of graham flour, 600g of flour, 150g hazelnut, dry figs & pumpkin seeds for the topping.

Steps: Mix all ingredients and let the dough rest and rise for 60-90 minutes. Bake in a 260-degree oven for 10 minutes, then lower to 180 degrees for the next 30 minutes.

Possibly the best cinnamon roll recipe

After countless trials, I think we have finally arrived at the best cinnamon roll recipe ever. The key is to use onaka (yogurt) and sour dough. The recipe is a mix of a neighborhood bakery in Stockholm and our own. Mmmmm.

Ingredients: A) For the dough - 30g of yeast, 200g of butter, 500g of onaka (yogurt or milk), 150g of sugar, 1 tea spoon of salt, 1,100g of flour, 50g of sour dough, 20g of cardamom. B) For the filling - 150g of butter, 20g of cinnamon, and 100g of sugar.

Steps: 1) Melt the butter over heat and mix with onaka, to make a body temperature medium. 2) Break the yeast into pieces, and mix with 1), sugar, salt, flour, sour dough, and cardamom; then let it rest for 1 hour. 3) Mix the filling, then knead the dough flat and fill with filling mix; fold it 3 times, then cut into strips to be rounded up into rolls. 4) After letting it rise for 30-45 minutes, bake in a 200 degree oven for 12-15 minutes.

Best way to eat is when warm or heated up in microwave with a cold glass of milk, or bring it to your next excursion with hot coffee on a boat or kayak!

Te Cuero in Ibiza

This is the most perfect shop to buy nice leather items during a vacation (and in Spain!). The son has taken over as the artisan, and you can ask for any kind of design of your liking. I got a small attache case with beautiful brown leather and a green baseball looking ball. Be careful that the shop has a nice long siesta break from 2-7pm, so shop before you eat your jamon at Bar Costa around the corner.

Bar Costa in Ibiza

This little town called Santa Gertrudis on Ibiza Island has the nicest Spanish toast and ham. The bar has many ham legs hanging and in the back carries lots of paintings by I assume, local artists. The Serrano and Iberico ham on a perfectly toasted tomato bread were so divine...

Good life... in Ibiza

Swedish Mid Summer

Refreshing to see such mideval practices displayed in such a beautiful way. Next year, I would like to make a flower band and dance around the pole myself.
